a TISKET a TASKET

hello all,  I am finally getting back on track.
I promised another show and tell of the remaining Market Baskets that I had yet to complete, so here they are. This is perhaps my favorite of them all, so far.  The contents are as follows:  rather large pink flowers, that could be anything they look like to you.  To me they remind me of carnations.  I popped in some of the green onions although you can only see the stalks.  I put in 2 varieties of cheese and some honey and a french loaf of bread and what I hope looks either like kale or what I was actually trying for, fennel.  I have decided however that they DO look like "Mizuna" lettuce. (a type of mustard green) So that is settled.

Here is a view from the back side of the basket, I like pink flowers and  I like the mix of the blue greens of the fennel/kale/lettuce? with the delicacy of the carnations.I did have to repaint the greens to something more in line with the 'Mazuna' mustard greens(sigh), I had really liked that blue-green while it lasted.

This is a little tiny basket that holds a teeny tiny amount of groceries;  bread, cheese,  green onions,  honey and a couple of tomatoes( made from foam balls painted and topped with the Fats Finds foliage  used in 'To Market, To Market'.  they actually worked out really well for the tomato tops!

Front view of the basket.  I should say at this point that I was working with  baskets that were really pale and new looking.  I had tried to darken them down with several different mediums and was not happy with the finish.  In viewing a basket tutorial on "ONE INCH MINIS" blog, she toned down the face of the baskets with glass paint!  I tried it too and it worked better than anything I had yet tried and so credit and hats off to 'ONE  INCH MINIS'! (I am now a follower)

This is the last basket that I have filled for the M.C.B.C. show in June.  It is small as well and has the bread, 2 cheeses, honey and green onions

Here it is from the back

And finally. Here is a basket that I made in 1993!  Other than the small handle, I wouldn't change a thing.  That does NOT happen too often with me.  I usually am never completely happy with what I do and I am always trying to New and Improve it.
So there you have it.
a Tisket, a Tasket,
That completes the Market Baskets

    1. Thanks Janine, Hey so what do you think do the greens look like fennel or kale or something else? I know it is not as frothy as fennel but I know it looks like something edible!!! Any suggestions? I know this is a backward kind of post. First I make it then I try to identify what I've made!!! I think I'm losing it.hahah

  4. Thank you Jane! You paint the loveliest word pictures! With the weather beginning to warm up and the birds chirping and the spring bulbs poking through the sleeping earth again, it won't be too many more months before those picnic become a reality.

  5. Your baskets are all so adorable that I would not know which one to pick! I do know they make me hungry for crusty bread and cheese. I think I would have this with a glass of white wine! As soon as the weather turns warm, I am going to have a lovely picnic on my balcony.

  6. Wine and cheese go together like a bowl of soup and a sandwich, which I suppose is what one could do; make a sandwich. I am craving the warmer weather too, Lucille! (sigh)
