SHOW AND TELL

Yesterday, both Janine and Fatima, came over with packed lunches and  I served tea and coffee and we spent the afternoon, yakity-yaking and between the talking and the eating we had Show and Tell.  I have decided to show and tell you about some of the wonderful things that I have in my collection of both Janine and Fatima's so that you can appreciate the talents that my two friends have.  These photos both above and below are by Fats, hand -made of fimo with the exception of the lily which she made of paper, I think.  Fats has always, right from the beginning, been a fabulous clay worker and the level of skill manifested itself fairly early on.
Here you can see the tray as well as the pot and the bowls and the lily in the vase.  In the background are 2 of the vases that I have in my collection, that she made from fimo and hand turned on her lathe.  The tea service was for my birthday several months ago, but the vases are probably 11 years old by now.  That was when Fats was just a rookie in the mini world!

Check out the precision of the pattern on these 2 vases!!!

Is she good or what!?  It reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, when Alice is falling down the rabbit hole, in the Disney movie version.  I just love it!

No, Fats did NOT make this pot rack, but she did give one each to both  Janine and I, for "just because".  Who could say "NO" to just because?  Not Me!!  Now, all I need is a kitchen...  A kitchen, with a house attached.

Next, Janine

I guess it was back in the year 2000 when Janine and I made an assortment of foods for the  local miniature show and sale.  Janine decided to make the caviar and the crackers and I am glad that I have it because she hasn't made one since.  She is very precise as you already know and has given the knife a mother of pearl handle and put a slice of lemon and a tiny bit of parsley on the side of the little crystal dish and very carefully arranged the crackers around it.  Janine has very refined tastes, as you can see!

Look at this cheese board!  With the exception of the knife , Janine  made  and arranged, everything on the board.  It is really wonderful and this was just one of the wonderful cheeses she made back then.  The green grapes where her special technique that I have never been able to master and Janine could always make her grapes look so succulent and  real. Grapes are difficult because they are sooo tiny and to get them to look plump and juicy and of a uniform size and shape is more difficult than it looks.  I had to give it up and  just used Janines because she was the "GRAPE MASTER"!

Do you see something pretty?  Yes, it is the ROSES that Janine stayed up till the wee hours making to eventually climb the trellis and the wall of her French House.  It only took public whining on her blog, to wheedle some from her. ( I'm better at whining than I thought, hmm? What else do I want???)  Aren't the roses a lovely color? Over the years I have decided that I DO like orange!  I love it in the garden as it gives so much life to the beds.  These will look fantastic when they are climbing up the sunny yellow walls of her doll's house, just opposite the 'Nelly Moser' clematis.  I can hardly wait!

Janine's Quilters Basket.  I don't quilt and I barely sew, but I think that this basket has everything I need to begin.  These generous baskets with the quilters lap-hoop, was very popular at the show and Janine should make MORE!  Please tell her so, she won't listen to me!

So here now is the end.  This is just a tiny amount of the things that both Janine and Fatima have been up to over the years.  They are 2 wonderfully talented and sharing women who I'm proud to call,"my friends".

    1. HELLO ! Rosamaria, Thank you for the wonderful comments about Janine and Fatima. I do treasure their friendship and their work. We have been friends a long time and God willing, we will all grow very old together, still playing make-believe. I have to say I admire your bobin lace work and what you show on your blog. It boggles the mind how one can keep all the lines staight and the pattern so perfect. Your family and friends must marvel at all the beautiful lace that you make for them and treasure it too. It is as fine as spiders webs! Really beautiful!

  2. Thank you for showing the tray Elizabeth, however I do need to credit Christel Jensen on her amazing tutorial on teapots in specific, the Japanese teapot.
I love Janine's work. She may not do a lot of minis, but those that she does are right on.
Janine, you have great taste and amazing ability to see what you want the end product to be. This makes you hard on yourself. I publicly ask you to be confident in your work as you put out great quality and detailed work. You work hard and it pays off. Although it may not come easy, Janine, I am proud to own a few of your pieces.

  3. Hello Elizabeth,
I wish I were a fly on the wall...or with my size maybe a bird at the window, so I could just look, listen and learn. 3 ladies that talented around one table...that must have been the conference of the year. I don't think Fatima has a blog, so i'll just comment here: you three ladies are such an amazing powerhouse of talent. Between the 3 of you i'll bet you could rule the mini world. You all do such fantastic work and I am so happy we get to see and learn from you.
    You ladies rule...you just rule!
    Big hug

    1. Hello Giac, You are so Funny. 2 days ago when the weather here was SOOO Cold, i heard a buzzing that sounded like a fly and it was! It was about 3/4 inch long and sooo big that it flew very slowly and quite low. I took a swipe at it missed and had to get the vacuum to remove it because it was in my workspace where little things are spilling out everywhere. So that Big fly on the wall met an untimely end. Better to just be you, Giac, I don't enjoy flies!
Big hug X3, back at you.

    1. Hey Q, Yes,..... she is... the one and only ...'GRAPE-MASTER'! bwah ha ha hah!!!
Janine's green grapes are in a class of their own. She did tell me however , that SHE did NOT make the caviar as I had originally thought. Today, I managed to find her mini Market Basket that was stored carefully away in the garage that I shall post soon for your viewing pleasure; ' Where you can feast your eyes on the fabulous and delectible assortment of hand-crafted and beautifully pressented veggies that will make you want to just go and?... COOK SOMETHING!'
And Fats.... yes ,they ARE perfectly lovely vases and they can stand on their own as artwork. Fats used to do little christening gowns with tiny baby booties, and when she and Janine came over, we spent time looking at old photos of 12 years ago and lots of her things were clothing items and the details were astonishing. Fats is currently working on a web page which she hopes to have up and running soon so I shall keep you all posted when she is Air Born.
I do have some very gifted friends and now you as one of them too!
