One of my favorite pastimes is eating sweets!
But it is a LOVE/ HATE relationship. I love to eat the sweets but I hate looking at the results of it! An extra pound of flesh shows up on one hip and then the other. Uggg, now I feel so bad when I step off of the scale that I have to console myself with something sweet.... You get the picture...... sigh
So the best way to break a bad habit, is to divert your attention to something else to replace the bad one with. So I have decided to turn to MUCH SMALLER PORTIONS and that means Mini Chocolate!!!
And so I present to you
GIVEAWAY NUMBER 3 JUST IN TIME FOR VALENTINES DAY....... when
" I DREAM OF CHOCOLATE"
|
This is a collection of some of my efforts to "bake" with air dry clay and paints. I have tried to work with Fimo and Sculpey so many times and I have been so disappointed with the results. My baked goods have mostly been garbaged. I like air dry clays so much better. I try to improve my work by learning from really good clay bakers and there are Many EXCEPTIONAL FOOD ARTISTS in blog land. Too many to name individually, but believe me, I applaud you at every available opportunity!!! That being said, I will give you a guided tour my current contribution to the mini kitchen, displayed on the messy table top. Hey you know me and mess... we really like each other! :D |
|
First up, a bowl of chocolate cake batter I shall do a tutorial on how I repurposed this bowl from what it was, to what it is now. I think you might be surprised at its origins. There is a worn wooden spoon protruding from the bowl and of course, batter that has worked its way over and down the side. Messy Messy Messy! I am including the mini measuring spoons with it too. |
|
How about some chocolate cheesecake topped with dark chocolate shavings on top of a glaze of gooey caramel sauce? Too much? |
|
Well then you can have a piece of chocolate instead all of them are calorie free I guarantee! |
|
But now we come to the chief weakness that I have .... Cookies! I just whipped up this batch of chocolate chunk cookies today um um good! |
|
Please Help Yourself! |
|
It is all Totally inedible! and all for Lorraine Terry The winner or Giveaway Number 3 CONGRATULATIONS! :D

Please contact me as soon as possible Lorraine so that I can get this sent to you!

And now for
my reward......
|
Well, It's go big or go home! Yum...sigh
elizabeth |
This was so funny to read :-)! Congratulations to Lorraine! Everything looks SO real, what a beautiful job you did, congratulations to you too! Enjoy your reward :-).
ReplyDeleteHi Nymphea! I am glad that you got a good chuckle from this post! :D Thank you for the compliment about the chocolate spread and I Did enjoy my reward....
DeleteVery much! :))
elizabeth
Lol, I hear you re sweet treats and the scales! What a delicious looking spread Elizabeth. It certainly doesn't look inedible (casually wipe the drool from the corner of my mouth). I too struggle with fimo, perhaps I should try air dry clay. Congratulations on being the lucky recipient Lorraine.
ReplyDeleteHi Sharee! I am delighted that you think that the chocolate looks 'delicious' because I am really trying to improve my work and your words are very encouraging. I am still pretty green with air dry clays but for the life of me, I can not seem to make polymer clays cooperate. I just hope that Lorainne will have some use for all of it, cause it is a lot of chocolate!
Deleteelizabeth
Congratulations Lorraine! I love this post, I love these minis, and and I'm a tiny bit green with envy! Don't my shouts of "Me, me, me!" as I read your post get me anywhere? Apparently not! ;-) OK, I'll go lick my wounds and think about how fun your post was and how I'm looking forward to hearing how you made that bowl, Elizabeth! :-D xo Jennifer
ReplyDeleteHello Jennifer! Thanks for enjoying the post and the minis! Why would you need to be 'green' Jennifer, when your own mini baking is So Wonderful? I just wish that I could turn out a cake like you do! Instead of 'licking your wounds' go lick a spoon full of cake batter.:))
DeleteNot to worry, I shall have a tutorial about the mixing bowl real soon, and I know that will make Flossy and Sophia very very happy! :D
elizabeth
Congratulations to the winner! Beautiful work as always, Elizabeth. Your sweet treats look delicious! May I recommend that for dessert after your meals, you eat dates. They are sweet and most satisfying. They will really fill you up. They contain no fat whatsoever, are high in fibre, and contain calcium and iron. I usually have eight of them, sometimes ten depending on the size. Just try it. They are sweet and will satisfy your sugar cravings.
ReplyDeleteHohoho, Lucille! I had dates for my mid-morning snack today and polished off 10! I know that they are full of goodness and likewise raisins which I also love. But give me a choice between dates and a chocolate bar, and it is no contest! :D
DeleteBut I will keep Trying to like dates better,.... if I have to..... :(
:D
elizabeth
Hello Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Lorraine! Elizabeth, your endless well of talents never cease to amaze me. You are a very good sculptor. Everything looks so realistic. I am dreaming of chocolate cheesecake. You did an incredible job and I repeat, I am so impressed!
Bravo! ...I cannot write anymore because all I want to do now is get some chocolate.
Big hug,
Giac
Hello Giac my friend! :)) You are over- generous with your praise Giac, cause I am still just a novice but I value it anyway because being a consummate Real Life baker yourself, your eye is very discerning! So thank you for all of your encouragement and for being 'impressed' with the chocolate cheesecake, which is always MY Dessert of choice, too! :D
DeleteBig Hugs Back!
elizabeth
Congratulations Lorraine, such a "sweet victory' ;)
ReplyDeleteOh Elizabeth you taunt me with delectable goodies.. inedible you say?? I think I would have tried them just to make sure, since the chocolaty goodness and ooey gooey look of them have made me slobber my screen!!
I think some day, they will make carrots taste like cheese burgers and chocolate tasting lettuce will fill the spot in my belly void..
Untill then..pass me ..just a nibble.. of your Henry bar will ya?
Hugs, JS
Hi Jane! You are one of the Food Artists that I so very much admire, so Thank you for your enthusiasm and the drool on the screen. Messy Messy Messy! :D
DeleteAs far as vegetable tasting like chocolate, I don't hold out much hope there. But if they did, they would probably start charging the same price for an individual carrot as they do for that Oh Henry bar, and many rabbits would have to go to bed hungry! :))
elizabeth
Congratulations Lorraine! You are soooo lucky! Go and get a lotto ticket! now......
ReplyDeleteElizabeth......You wicked wicked girl! What a tease of a post....I love chocolate. This was certainly a great giveaway. Thank you again for being so generous and ofcourse, talented.
Now I want to go buy an OH Henry....
fats
Hey Fats! This was such fun! I know that you have been working so hard on getting your WEB PAGE up and running, and I think that you DESERVE a Oh Henry bar too! When we hit the road to Seattle for the show, I will make sure to bring some chocolate with me..... but perhaps as Lucille said, I should bring Dates instead? ....... NAWWWW, its gotta be chocolate! :D
Deleteelizabeth
Congratulations Lorraine, such a lovely prize to win also!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth I have an answer to your problem......DO NOT step on the scales to start with!!!! Do any of us need confirmation that our hips are a little more rounded that what they ever used to be. I try to keep my fingers busy with miniatures, plus I have also found that 'baby sitting is good.....you cannot feed the baby as well as yourself at the same time....lol!
Linda xxxx
Hi Linda! I like your solution very much! :D and Grandchildren would be a
DeleteGrand way to keep my fingers out of the candy jar; but quite an extreme measure to replace a general lack of self-discipline! haha
elizabeth
elizabeth
That bowl of chocolate batter looks so inviting I will have to go out and buy some chocolate to melt and you can guess the rest! Great display Elizabeth and lucky Lorraine.
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret! You know whenever I look at that bowl of batter it gets me all agitated and it is a challenge not to want to dip my finger in the bowl. Slurp! hmm? :(
DeleteNot a good idea no matter how much you love chocolate!
Thanks for your encouraging comment Margaret :D
elizabeth
Are you sure this is calorie free Elizabeth? It looks so tempting I want to take a surreptitious swipe at that cake mixture and suck my finger, well, I tried but all I got was finger marks on my screen :( I'd settle for one of the cookies to go with a nice hot cuppa but I guess I'll have to get baking.....lucky Lorraine and congratulations for her win and thanks to yourself for your generosity.
ReplyDeleteHello Susan! I know what you mean about the cake batter bowl. When I was a kid, my mom would make her home-made Peach cake from scratch. I would always try to be nearby because no sooner did she finish pouring the batter in the pan, then all my brothers and sisters would swoop down on the batter bowl but I would make a bee line for the spoon. The satisfaction of getting the last bit of cake batter licked up was almost better than eating the cake. And eating raw cookie dough was heaven!.... And Still is! :D
Deleteelizabeth
WOW! It looks like the real thing to me. All that wonderful gooey chocolate has me drooling. Yours may be calorie free but if just looking at them sends me off hunting for chocolate they are a bad influence. haha
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work Elizabeth no matter what they are all made of. I never would have known.
Congratulations Lorraine!!!
Thank You Catherine! I had such fun making them although they were not without their challenges! The cake batter was the most time consuming because it involved getting the bowl ready but by far the most fun for me were the cookies. It was my first time making them and they turned out better than I had expected. Beginners luck, I think! :))
Deleteelizabeth
Bonjour Rosethe'! How nice it is that I was able to set your mouth watering along with mine when looking at the chocolates! The difference is that I am sure that You wear your extra grams with typical French flair whilst I carry my extra pounds around like knapsacks! :)
Deleteelizabeth
Lovely with something calorie free chocolate. It looks completely real. You have performed a great job here, I'd love to see how you have come to this wonderful result.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the lucky winner.
Knuas
Wyrna
Hi Wyrna! Thank you and guess what? I forgot how I made them, Honestly! But I write down my recipes if I think that they are successful because my memory is like a sieve these days so I will have to have a look-see and if I think it can transfer to the blog easily I will show you. For sure though, I will be demonstrating the Bowl as a mini -Tute because know that I have the items on hand and thankfully I have not forgotten how I did that!.... Whew!
Delete:D
elizabeth
Congratulations to Lorraine, the very lucky winner. Wow, I think I gained weight just looking at this delicious sweet scene you crafted with so much talent. Great work!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Drora
Thank you Drora! These were fun to do and I really like making mini foods but only if they are desserts. But I am not there Yet so expect to see more of my attempts with air dry clays as I continue to experiment! :D
Deleteelizabeth
Congrats to the Happy Winner! =)
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful sweets you made for her!
Thanks&
Hugs
Kikka
Thank You Kikka! I just hope to hear from Lorraine before next week so that she can claim them. If Not, then I will have to re-draw next week. But I am really glad that you like them! :D
Deleteelizabeth
Congratulations to Lorraine!
ReplyDeleteYou're very talented, your 3rd giveaway is fantastic.
Geneviève
Oh Thank You Genevieve! Not bad after several hundred tries, I guess! hahaha
DeleteI am still working on my techniques but it has been such a great blessing to have received so much encouragement from everyone; so once again I Thank You! :D
elizabeth
Congratulations Lorraine!
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented Elizabeth...I wish I could grab it off the screen, it's so realistic!

Veronique
Hello Veronique! I am so happy to hear that you are feeling better! :)) I think that chocolate is a good remedy for most of what ails us. Don't you?
DeleteI'm just being cheeky. However, I know that it does have something in it that makes us feel happier, cause it always puts a BIG SMILE on my face just before I dive in, then I am like a Cat in Catnip! Meowwwwww
elizabeth
Felicitaciones a las tres afortunadas ganadoras.
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias por esta oportunidad de participar.
Un abrazo
Victoria
Hello Victoria! I am so happy to have had you participate and as I said before, I wish I had something for everyone, I truly do. But you just never know what can happen and these Giveaways were more fun than I suspected and I may just have to have another one sooner than I had planned..... meanwhile, I Thank You for enjoying them! :D

Ahhhh Tatiana! One of my other favorite miniature Food Artists! I Thank You for your comments about the chocolate setting and the cookie! :D This was my first attempt at making them and the easiest to do too! In real life one cookie is NEVER ENOUGH either, but leave me a bag and then you're talkin! :D

elizabeth
OMG! I'm sooo jealous of Loraine! That is an incredible prize. Is the cake air dry clay?
ReplyDeletehugs♥,
Caroline
Hi Caroline! I am so glad that you like it!!! Yes, the cheese cake is air dry clay. I made a couple of them, this one and another with blackberries on top which I removed slices from. Sad to say that the cheesecakes looks more like pound cake when sliced so, I think that I still have more practice ahead of me. But still fun nonetheless! :D
Deleteelizabeth
Congrats to Lorraine!! I have to admit that I love confections but I'm a terrible baker..I used to be pretty good at it but when I married Rich he complained that I didn't make cakes like his mother did (His mom had 5 kids and on a good day she would open up a box slap it in oven on sheet pan...frost it with store bought frosting and serve it up??? my cakes were all handmade and yet I was doing it wrong so I quit..he's been getting sheet cakes ever since and I've had no complaints..his mom was on to something) sorry back to the lovely display..I think you did a wonderful job and youtube has some great tutorials if you want to go search for em (I use polymer clay and made mostly fast food..when I tried to make upscale items they didn't sell..oh well ..it's lunch time..time for my meds (amoxicillin or that's what they say it is..but is it really?)
ReplyDeleteHugs
Marisa :)
Ohh Marisa! You have such interesting comments and so funny! I am sorry to hear that you are still battling illness, it has been ongoing for you hasn't it? Poor lady. My mom use to make both kinds of cakes, those from a mix, like Richs' mom; but for Peach Cakes, always from scratch and by hand. Her Peach cakes were all improvised as she never followed a printed recipe and were always TWICE AS HEAVY as a regular mix. They were so dense that you had to eat them with cream or Ice Cream just to cut them down while you chewed but they were Delicious! The only one in my family able to come close to my moms cakes is my sister B.J. and even my mom approves of her copies. My brothers who are always the most critical, always ask "who made the Peach Cake?" before they load up on the ice cream and take a bite. If it is my mom or B.J. then it gets the thumbs up! Anyone else is...... fail :(
DeleteThank you for the info about the You-Tube tutorials and I have been watching them and in awe by what I see. Like I said there are many many Incredibly Talented mini Food Artists out there and what great teachers and inspiration they all are!
Keep on getting well Marisa! :))
elizabeth
Delicious sweets.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the lucky winner.
Bye, Faby
Hello Fabiola! Thank you and I am glad that the chocolate meets with your approval! I certainly hope that Lorraine will enjoy them. I shall be doing a tutorial on how I made the bowl for the chocolate very soon Faby, so stay tuned! :))

Felicidades a la ganadora , son unos dulces fantásticos, felicidades por este trabajo:-)
ReplyDeleteOh Thank You Rosa Maria! Such a nice compliment about the chocolates and very Much appreciated! :D
Deleteelizabeth
What a Pleasure to meet another "relentless consumer of Chocolate" Marisa heeheehee
DeleteI admit that stepping onto the scales is only when the situation is desperate, and desperate times call for desperate measures, don't they? :D
elizabeth
Congratulations to Lorraine, I am sure she loves her gorgeous prize, Elizabeth!!
ReplyDeleteI love cookies, the chocolates and cake batter for the cake you have made, everything is so well done! I think miniatures shouldn't be perfect, because that is not realistic, especially not if there are people in the neighbourhood who love to eat chocolate, you'll always see a bite out of some food ;)!! This story was so much fun to read, I love your styl eof writing, you know that :D! Dear Elizabeth, you did an excellent job on making food from air dried clay, I really LOVE it!
Big hug, Ilona
Hi Ilona! YOU are yet ANOTHER MINI FOOD ARTIST that I so admire! Actually, the way you can manipulate fimo into dolls, food, toys and flowers etc. just blows me away, so any praise from you is very encouraging to me. Thank You! :D
DeleteI'm still waiting to hear from Lorraine so I hope that she likes it, so keeping my fingers crossed.
I like the idea of a Bite out of a cookie and will have to give it a go! Meanwhile, I am satisfied that you liked the story because initially, I was not clear on which way it was going to lead me as I was writing it. As with the work, so with the writing.... always a surprise ending! :))
elizabeth
Congratulations to the winner! This looks very tasty =)
ReplyDeleteHannah
Thanks Hannah! I am so glad that you think so! :D Tons of fun when making these mini treats and I hope to soon make some more! :))
ReplyDeleteelizabeth
Well, they look good enough to eat! LOL! The problem with Pictures of Candy on the blog is that WE can't tell if they are "real" or not!!! I sure hope You could tell the difference... and didn't get them mixed up with the mini chocolates....!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I will believe you.... you deserved the Candy!!!
Please don't torment us.....!
And congratulations to the lucky winner!
(My poor dolls are just going to starve....!) LOL!
Ho ho ho Betsy dear! Now how could I have a mini candy bar as my "reward", hmmm? That wouldn't satisfy nuthin' and nobody! NO it was VERY REAL and very good too. Hey I guess I should have shown a picture of the crumpled wrapper just to prove it! hahhaha But I had to eat it fast, just in case I had to share it with some ones "poor dolls"... uh oh.... did I just say that?
ReplyDelete... sorry dolls! :(
elizabeth :D
Congratulations to Lorraine for the wonderful giveaway she won!!!! I really hope to see my name someday in one of your giveaway.....your miniatures are simply fantastic!!! Your post was so cute and funny.....I had a blast reading it!! :) Thanks again for this third opportunity...you surely are a kind, giving person! Hugs, hugs, hugs!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Simona! Thank You for your high praise! You have been such a lovely participant in all of the Giveaways and I too, hope to see your name drawn for any future opportunities. I remember how THRILLED I was when Margaret of "My Petite Parterre" drew my name for her 3rd place Giveaway last year, and I was "Happy Dancing" all over the studio! :D As you can see in some of my most recent Bedroom blogs, I have put her Beautiful Cushions to good use! So hang in there, Simona you just never know what kind of magic can happen in Blog land.:))
ReplyDeleteelizabeth
This looks divine! I was not craving chocolate or sweets until after I looked at your pictures. Ughhh! :)

elizabeth
ja,ja muy graciosa, además de un estupendo trabajo, yo soy fans del chocolate y felicidades a la ganadora es un regalo estupendooo, amo tus creaciones, feliz semana.
ReplyDeleteHi Sara! Thank you for your compliment and I happy to hear that you are a Big Chocolate fan too! Personally, I am not very picky about what kind of chocolate that I eat just so long as it is sweet. I have tried to make the chocolates on the table look as rich and as sweet as I could. I am glad that you like them! :D
ReplyDeleteelizabeth
Hello Elizabeth! (I cannot believe that I missed the post about your giveaway!) Your prizes are beautiful and this one is absolutely delectable! Congratulations to the winners.
ReplyDeleteI love what you have created and as you know, I have a terrible sweet tooth. Keep up your amazing work and eat lots of chocolate - it is good for you (you know - calcium and so forth!)
Big hugs,
Isabelle
Hi Isabelle! Oh, yes I know that you have a sweet tooth and a taste for candy just like me! :D heeheehee
ReplyDeleteI am delighted that you have enjoyed this post about the chocolate and the one of the perfume trays. They were fun and now that they are done ( almost ), I have been reluctantly working on the staircase in the Arthur. I couldn't put if off any longer. But, given a choice between working on the stairs or making chocolate covered minis..... well, need I say more? :D
elizabeth
Congratulations to the winner! Beautiful work as always, Elizabeth. Everything is so wel done, and It looks completely real.
ReplyDeleteThank You Nono! This project was lots of fun because I was able to do the Real Life hands on research for the chocolate at every available opportunity! :D
