Pride Cometh Before the Snowfall

Hello Everyone!
Just TWO days ago, I was secretly laughing up my long sleeves and acting very smug because Here in Southwestern Canada, specifically Vancouver's Lower Mainland where I live, there was NO SNOW.  "Yes, it was too bad for you guys" I thought.  Everywhere here was green and growing.  There were even signs of an early Spring just around the corner.  Robins were hopping about and singing and tulip bulbs were bursting forth from the ground in my garden by at least 2 inches not to mention some of the creeping plants  which were also beginning to leaf out.... all well ahead of time.  "Ooooooo, ( I rubbed my hands together with secret glee)  winter was almost over and were are soooo lucky to be living here on the west coast", which the rest of Canada has dubbed "Lotus Land" because of its year long mild and temperate climate.  "Not like the rest of Canada buried under and having to dig themselves out!"  And "Oh how I love living here!" heeheehee

                                                                              ***
                                                                           but  alas

..... as I said, that was 2 days ago. (sigh)
And here is what comes of being too full of  PRIDE

                                                               From NO SNOW to now
                           LOTS and LOTS!!!!  :(

TOTALLY INEDIBLE! giveaway #3

One of my favorite pastimes is eating sweets!
But it is a LOVE/ HATE relationship.  I love to eat the sweets but I hate looking at the results of it!  An extra pound of flesh shows up on one hip and then the other. Uggg, now I feel so bad when I step off of the scale that I have to console myself with something sweet....  You get the picture...... sigh

So the best way to break a bad habit, is to divert your attention to something else to replace the bad one with.  So I have decided to turn to MUCH SMALLER PORTIONS and that means Mini Chocolate!!!
And so I present to you  GIVEAWAY NUMBER 3 JUST IN TIME FOR VALENTINES DAY.......  when" I  DREAM OF CHOCOLATE"

This is a collection of some of my efforts to "bake" with air dry clay and paints.
I have tried to work with Fimo and Sculpey so many times and I have been so disappointed with the results.  My baked goods have mostly been garbaged.  I like air dry clays so much better.   I try to improve my work by learning from really good clay bakers and there are Many EXCEPTIONAL FOOD ARTISTS in blog land. Too many to name individually, but believe me, I applaud you at every available opportunity!!!
That being said, I will give you a guided tour my current contribution to the mini kitchen,  displayed on the messy table top.  Hey you know me and mess... we really like each other! :D
First up, a bowl of chocolate cake batter
I shall do a tutorial on how I repurposed this bowl from what it was, to what it is now.
I think you might be surprised at its origins.
There is a worn wooden spoon protruding from the bowl and of course, batter that has worked its way over and down the side.
Messy Messy Messy!
I am including the mini measuring spoons with it too.

How about some chocolate cheesecake topped with dark chocolate shavings on top of a glaze of gooey caramel sauce?
Too much?

Well then you can have a piece of chocolate  instead
all of them are calorie free
I guarantee!

But now we come to the chief weakness that I have ....
Cookies!
I just whipped up this batch of chocolate chunk cookies today
um um good!
Please Help Yourself!
It is all
Totally inedible!
and all for Lorraine Terry
The winner or Giveaway Number 3
CONGRATULATIONS! :D

Please contact me as soon as possible Lorraine so that I can get this sent to you!
The deadline to claim your prize will be until next Wednesday Feb. 11 2014

"SO WHAT'S TAKING HER SO LONG, ANYWAY!!!? "

INDEED!  What is taking me so long?
I had every intention of getting this finished by Friday night but then things went awry and nothing I made would cooperate.  Then when I thought I had a finished product, I would take a picture and upon examination, there were errors that needed attention and then I was back to square one again.
But now it is over and here is the SECOND PLACE PRIZE,  A VINTAGE STYLE PERFUME VANITY TRAY.

Now the next question is who gets it????

Let me take care of that question right now  The winner is ......... (pause)......... It ..... is ......

LINDA CARSWELL!

CONGRATULATIONS LINDA, I HOPE THAT YOU WILL ENJOY IT
( oops!  typo...  the photo above is the original tray before I changed the bottle on the right.  The photos above and below is the actual set. )
BUT if you would prefer a simpler crystal set instead, you can substitute it for the one below

The clear crystal perfume vanity tray

This set is much simpler and is primarily crystal and glass with no labels.
Janine is a big fan of the clear glass where as Fatima and I like a little color.

The choice is yours!

so that is it for the second place winner and stay tuned Wednesday for the third place prize draw!
(Gotta go and make it ! )
bye for now!
