I believe that the love of family and friends both past and present, fill this little house and leave an imprint on its walls. It is always curious to me that it transmits itself so clearly and distinctly to others so that people who visit, can feel it too. :D

elizabethelizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-48826836236045041772014-08-15T00:47:14.907-07:002014-08-15T00:47:14.907-07:00Hallo Elizabeth !

I LOVE IT!!! :D
You are so right, about decisions NOT being written, shall we say, in stone! :))
They Can always be changed and since that is what I usually do anyway, I don't know why it should continually freak me out. I make something then after I have lived with it for a while I see or think of something that I would like better and then have to make adjustments to achieve my new purpose. I guess I would just like to get it right the FIRST TIME rather than the 4th or 5th!
And as to the rose bush at the corner of my house; that shrub was only supposed to grow to a maximum of 6 to 8 feet. It is now above the roof line and requires regular pruning to keep it in check. There is the danger of TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING, whether it be with an over-grown garden or sadly, rose rust and sawfly! :((
Thanks also for your comment about the stairwell, Sarah.
Much Appreciated :))

elizabethelizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-21311103217312483592014-07-29T04:45:52.924-07:002014-07-29T04:45:52.924-07:00Oh i forgot to mention, I love the stairwell view!...Oh i forgot to mention, I love the stairwell view!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01187806125683051158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-71262608545039453922014-07-29T04:43:53.538-07:002014-07-29T04:43:53.538-07:00Gorgeous gifts, the painting is very special. What if its the wrong choice!!! :D Don't worry too much Elizabeth! It will look great no matter what choice you stick with, and it can always be changed. P.s that is a stunning rose bush. Our garden is a sanctuary for rose rust, so unfortunately we don't experience sights like that here, actually, our garden is a sanctuary for every pest on earth, we have every type of sawfly available to mankind :DSarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01187806125683051158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-39636791460906316222014-07-03T15:32:15.162-07:002014-07-03T15:32:15.162-07:00Hi Irene! Thank you for that lovely compliment about the photo down the stairwell! :)) Now that narrow "death trap" has something to make the journey going up or down the stairs, worth the risk! heehee And I have Finally hung the stockings up over the line in the kitchen and so now both Catherine and Linda are well represented inside this cottage. Each little thing just adds another interesting layer. And speaking of "little things"....
Have you been having fun with your most recent show purchases? That is such a handsome lot of little 'goodies' that you snagged for your properties from the York Miniature Fair, and I admire Everything that you showed on both of your blogs. I know already that you will finish the house on time and it will be stunning....I just hope you don't wait until the last months to finish it and end up with an head ache because of all the decisions to make!! :) :) But as you said, it's part of you, to be like that, have crisis, have doubts and I'm sure that if you reach a certain level of quality, it's just because of all your thinking about all steps to take and how to take them. You don't just put something there, on top of another just because it goes there.....you actually analyze and always try to come up with the best solution, not just any solution! Again, this is what separates you from somebody that is messy, not clean, not clear of what they wanted to achieve.
Thank you for always sharing your minis, the steps you take to make them and for being such a nice person, taking the time to answer everybody.....You are.....special!! What a wonderful and Greatly Appreciat...Hi Simona! What a wonderful and Greatly Appreciated comment; Thank You Simona!!! :D With me there is always a lot of worry and self-doubt about everything that I do. ( It seems to go with the territory!) It gladdens me to know, that buildings with this style of stonework are found in parts of Italy. My friend Fatima says that the stonework of this cottage, is like the house that she grew up in in Portugal, which also makes me feel More Confident about this structure! I tend to work in fits and starts and right now the 3rd wall of the house is on "PAUSE" because I need MORE MOJO to keep me going forward on it. There is exactly 12 months left to get this house completely finished. Currently, I am having concerns about getting it done in time for next years West Coast Miniature Show primarily because of my inherent laziness and all consuming pre-occupation with PINTEREST! hahah But never fear that I will not choose to answer any comments because I feel that if someone takes the time to leave one, then courtesy demands my reply in return. There are different opinions about this I know, but that is how my mother raised me! :)) Besides, EVERYONE KNOWS by now, just how much I like to talk!!!! :D

elizabeth
p.s. I am glad that you liked my roses. They are now starting to fade but this year the showing was INCREDIBLE! ALL 5 of the Clematis vines bloomed at once! This is a FIRST time for that to happen and this time I remembered to take some photos!elizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-48313690390791162872014-06-14T13:02:38.161-07:002014-06-14T13:02:38.161-07:00Hey Elizabeth! I'm sorry I missed this post too but I think I'm not getting feeds for your blog.... or I missed it but as it is not the first time, maybe it's Blogger this time and not me! :) I love the you always answer to everybody with either answers to questions or just to thank people for their visit. When people do this I do appreciate it a lot! I come from an old city in Italy where there are lots of very old buildings made with stones and yours reminded me exactly of those buildings....it looks absolutely perfect, let me tell you that I saw many and you couldn't ask for a better texture than the one you got there. I feel your pain in trying to make now the other sides the same as the ones done but knowing you I'm sure you'll do a great job! And even if they weren't the exact same copy of the other walls, you are lucky that each wall stays on a different side so people can't really compare the 4 sides together! :) Anyway, you won't have this problem, I'm sure! The gifts you got from your friends are so lovely!!!! The painting is really lovely, very delicate and the stockings are super darlings!!! Oh my God!!!! So very well done and so tiny!!! You have great friends that are also thoughtful! I love your garden and your wonderful flowers!!! Your roses are superb and can I also see some clematis and maybe passion flower too??? I love your work and I'm looking forward to see more of it, I really like how is coming along and even if you always have doubts or crisis on how to do or finish something, at the end you always come up with something special!! Some of the things that you say are so funny and yet so "spot on" so if nowhere else, please feel free to express yourself HERE.
I am Very Happy that I have inspired you to finish your Baxter cottage retreat. I know that it must have been very therapeutic to do something in Baxter's memory. I have a little dog made from leather that I happen to find at the thrift store months ago that reminded me of my little dog MAX MAXWELL, who died of sickness and old age last month. I keep this little leather puppy where I can see him as a token in his memory. It is as comforting to me as your cottage tribute to Baxter the cat, has been for you.

Anyway Marisa, do not refrain from voicing your opinions and ideas when it is that very quality, that I so very much, appreciate and enjoy! :D

elizabeth
p.s. The egg carton stonework is just that WORK but now I can leave the 2 walls that I have done alone and focus elsewhere instead of constantly re-doing them. I have begun a climbing red rose for the exterior of the cottage and hope to have it completed by next week. This started as an off-shoot of a work bee that the Miniteers began for Janine's miniature French garden project that we started last Tuesday. It will be interesting to see how mine turns out since it was suppose to be a mini test pilot only.

elizabethelizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-23030854183582848302014-06-06T10:54:27.314-07:002014-06-06T10:54:27.314-07:00Hahahah, Hi Marilyn! I will admit that this cottage does indeed have a "Scottish" look to it, even though it is English, and so I am thinking that your suggestion of the slate tiles will probably be the highroad that I take. I encourage you to take a look at my friend Janine's faux slate roof tutorial from her MINWORKS blog. Since I already have the materials needed to do it I think that will be what I use. But I do remember that I LOVED how the Versi-slates looked on your 'Chocolat" doll's house Em, and that would definitely be my second choice! :))

elizabethelizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-70176203014620403652014-06-06T10:42:48.709-07:002014-06-06T10:42:48.709-07:00Hi Sharee! :)) Thank You very much for this lovel...Hi Sharee! :)) Thank You very much for this lovely compliment and also your comment! :D Guess what?
