It is a Pleasure to have you back on the blog and I Always look forward to seeing yours and reading your generous comments on the blogs of others as our paths cross, this way and that! It makes my day when someone tells me that the house is "Alive" and looks "Real"! Your phrase calling the details "wonderful and lush" were especially welcomed and that it has a bit of "something for everyone" was the cherry on Top! So THANK YOU my very dear Sans for every kind and generous word. I, and SO MANY OTHERS, have missed you!
kisses and hugs

elizabethelizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-194104334941721692013-10-28T02:40:33.152-07:002013-10-28T02:40:33.152-07:00Dear Elizabeth, it is such a pleasure to be back h...Dear Elizabeth, it is such a pleasure to be back here. There is a familiarity yet there's also always something new or something I haven't noticed before that'll pop up. It's like walking into a folk museum except your place is so alive and not forgotten or still.

It is easy to forget that this is a dollhouse and not real rooms and I always imagine these rooms are part of a grand old mansion for the wonderful and lush details. This is such a small house and like your cosy cottages this is very compact and I think that helps to make the space feel more homely and warm! You know that after I begin a project there
always comes a time when the project begins to dictate what direction it wants to go in. This house has been calling the shots right from the time I started to hang the wallpaper on the Parlor walls. Every time I work on it I end up being surprised by the outcome. I am delighted that you are enjoying the feeling and the atmosphere that is in this house, Caroline; I am too! :D

elizabethelizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-45001389144378566542013-09-25T09:30:23.335-07:002013-09-25T09:30:23.335-07:00It's so charming and cozy! My grandmother's bed was brown metal with a rounded head and footboard, and I shared it with my cousins when I would go to visit for the summer holidays. It groaned and creaked with every movement but I loved it I am glad that this mini bed brings back happy memories for you too, Marisa! I am so Blessed with so many mini friends that can turn a blind eye to my many mini failings with regard to my regular struggles with wood-working! hahahah The installation of the door was 'tighter than tight' for sure but now that it is done I can be satisfied with the results too! By adding just a single strip of wood trim to close the ugly gap between the door frame and the fireplace panel it made it all look cohesive. Because of just that one piece of extra trim the door Benefits Greatly! You could call it CREATIVE CARPENTRY. And Now the occupant of the house can get in and then get out of the bathroom. So important for
Pee-ce of mind. hehehe

elizabethelizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-70620036325356023052013-09-22T11:06:28.678-07:002013-09-22T11:06:28.678-07:00Ho Ho Ho, Irene! It is just good Fudging, as I told Isabelle. Yes the door fits and it works but that is because you haven't been privy to the behind the scenes, Bloopers. But you are correct in saying that we can in the mini world "make things fit"! ( Prayers of thanks are going up to God, even as I write this) Thank you for noticing the curtains, Irene. I am rather pleased with the way that they turned out. I gave them a ruffle valance because I had the same style in the Parlor and I liked the effect. I had to use the Pretty Pleater to get the correct depth of the pleats but then I coxed some of them out so that the look was softer and not quite so formal. There is just the right amount of light that filters through them and that adds to the romance.
Once the stairs are installed you ( and Margaret ) will be able to explore the entire house to your hearts content and I really hope that you DO!

elizabethelizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-46587147517501336542013-09-22T10:49:51.109-07:002013-09-22T10:49:51.109-07:00What a beautiful way to express the incorporation ...What a beautiful way to express the incorporation of the door, by saying that it Organically fits into the interior! THANK YOU, Ludmila! I want the door to make its presence known but not to shout "Look at Me". It is better for it to be quiet and to just do it's job.:D The light peeking from under it makes you curious more about what lies beyond but not about the door itself. I love these little extras and I am delighted that you do too! I can be thankful that this dreaded hanging of the door is now behind me, Hooray! I am making a bigger to do about the staircase than is probably warranted. I always make the unpleasant jobs Bigger in my head than they prove to be in the end. So just because I am nearer to finishing the bathroom, that will be Next. I shall then be forced to contend with the staircase. The kitchen will be last. So the saga continues.......

elizabethelizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-68971364141961091032013-09-22T10:31:49.285-07:002013-09-22T10:31:49.285-07:00Hello Rosethe! I kept thinking of you making the door for your bookstore and it was your perseverance that kept me at it, so a Big THANK YOU, Rosethe! Like your follow-up comment after you had posted on your bookstore, I also would NOT want to Ever hang another. Not the most pleasant experience for me. But, now that it is all over, I can be happy with it. What a bonus to have Lea' share that translation with me. So this is what I bring you..... I am glad that you have noticed that the beam was cut into, and in truth, I was unable to do otherwise. I know that this would be frowned upon by any carpenter worth his salt but as Betsy has pointed out, many things are done, out of expediency that are not necessarily up to code, and like you've said, I had to just make it fit! You were so wise to suggest the overall pictures of the entire doll's house, in progress. It was good to see it myself and I am glad that you have enjoyed it! I kept thinking that I was viewing a stage set. The camera angles can completely control the eye of the viewer. Before Bruce's instructions on how to use this camera, I only cared about getting a clear photo, but now it is how to take the composition of the scene and make it look Alive! This takes it all to a whole new level for me, and is often more fun than composing the rooms of the doll's house. I really love it!
I look forward to our get together this week! Bring your appetite! :D

elizabethelizabeth shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09042037455600427075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3449505618824942041.post-68930116804166014132013-09-22T09:46:10.944-07:002013-09-22T09:46:10.944-07:00Ahhhh Susan, my dear! I know that I have done my job, when you can emotionally place yourself within it and then feel like staying for awhile and Isn't it wonderful to be able to " get Lost" within the walls of a doll's house? Real Life is often out of our control, but with a doll's house you can escape To and Into a world of our imaginations.
